Born in Sheffield, near to the Peak District National Park, in 1961.
As a child in the 60’s and early 70’s I was a keen angler which allowed me to spend time in the countryside around rivers, lakes and reservoirs. I was encouraged to expand my interest in wildlife at school and alongside a close friend my focus on birdlife really got going when I attended an RSPB country walk around Bradfield. At the same time I joined the YOC (Young Ornithologists Club) and subsequently many more days spent out in the local countryside followed. The Sheffield Bird Study Group was founded in December 1972 and I joined shortly afterwards. I continue to be actively involved with the SBSG and remain a member of the RSPB and the SOC (Scottish Ornithologists Club).
It would be fair to say that birdwatching and photography have been a significant factor in my life particularly through the long term friends I have made and also the opportunities that have allowed me to enjoy nature and the outdoors generally.
I am a keen photographer and have always been an all round naturalist recording a wide variety of images, examples of which are displayed here in the galleries. As time has passed the equipment and technology used has changed allowing photographers to capture some outstanding pictures. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
